Celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 3:00pm Saturday March 16, 2019 at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL.  Burial will be in Brockville Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Jerry McDaniel Memorial Fund C/O Pulliam Funeral Home P.O. Box 121 Oblong, IL 62449.

Jerry Arthur McDaniel, 74, of Oblong, IL passed away on Tuesday March 12, 2019 at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL.

He was born at Ft. Scott, Kansas on October 10, 1944 to Benjamin and Alta Mae (Wilkey) McDaniel.  On April 25, 1964 he married Wanda (Harris) McDaniel who survives.

Jerry had worked at the Dresden Nuclear Power Plant in Morris, IL as a security guard, retiring in 1987.  He had also served on the Rockdale Fire Department as a Captain and a paramedic for 15 years.  He was also a member of the Newton High School class of 1962.  Jerry enjoyed fishing, junk’n, auctions and watching antique tractor pulls.  He also enjoyed dancing and playing the harmonica. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his family.

Jerry is survived by his wife Wanda (Harris) McDaniel, Oblong,IL; a son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Dee Dee McDaniel, Joliet, IL; three daughters and sons-in-law Wendy McDaniel, Wisconsin Dells, WI, Tracy and Derrick Foster, Joliet, IL and Kerry Geltz and Bill McCool, Westville, IL; six grandchildren Krine Moore, Derrick Foster Jr., Harley McDaniel, Dava Geltz, Kailey Foster and Jerika Geltz; five great-grandchildren Oscar Moore, Olivia Moore, Owen Moore, Addix Parson and Emmitt Foster.  Jerry is also survived by a brother Edward McDaniel, Ft. Scott, KS; a sister Annabella Lambird, Newton, IL and a step brother Dean Malone, Dennison, IL along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert McDaniel and sister Ginger Matar
